«Interconexiones: Nuevos Cuartetos con Oboe»

We are very excited to announce a new project «Interconexiones: New Oboe Quartets» which consists of the commissions and premieres of five new oboe quartets.

Two quartets will be written by up-and-coming Spanish composers; Maricarmen Asenjo-Marrodán (born in 1978 in Seville and based in Spain) and Pilar Miralles (born in Almeria in 1997 and based in Helsinki) and the remaining three works will be written by composers; John Richard Durant (born in the UK in 1960, based in Seville), Luke Styles (born in Australia in 1982, based in London), Althea Talbot-Howard (born in Nigeria in 1966, grew up in Australia and based in London).

«Interconexiones: New Oboe Quartets» will be premiered by the Cuarteto Emispherio during the 2022-2023 ROSS chamber music cycle: XXXIII Ciclo de Música de Cámara on Sunday March 5, 2023 at 12:00 at the “Espacio Turina” concert hall. El estreno del proyecto «Interconexiones: Nuevos Cuartetos con Oboe” será durante el XXXIII Ciclo de Música de Cámara de la ROSS. Domingo 5 de marzo de 2023 a las 12:00 en el Espacio Turina, Sevilla.

Este proyecto tiene por objetivo ampliar el repertorio para dicha formación instrumental a través de cinco nuevas composiciones realizadas por autores contemporáneos con diversos estilos compositivos. Dichas obras serán realizadas por dos compositoras españolas, la sevillana Mari Carmen Asenjo-Marrodán (1978) y la almeriense Pilar Miralles (1997, residente en la actualidad en Helsinki, Finlandia), junto a tres compositores foráneos; John Richard Durant (nacido en el Reino Unido en 1960, pero residente en Sevilla desde 1991), Luke Styles (compositor australiano nacido en 1982 y residente en Londres) y Althea Talbot-Howard (nacida en Nigeria en 1966, criada en Australia y residente en Londres).
